The nights are getting colder but the days still swelter hot.
How should one dress at such a time
when piping hot pumpkin spice
lattes and scarves are everywhere,
but the temperature doesn't quite match up?

I'm taking on these tricky transitional times and embracing fall - despite recent warm daytime temperatures - by switching up my go-to piece (a relaxed or skater fit halter-top dress) with different textures, fabrics, and deeper colours. Paired with a dark manicure and booties, the pictured quilted wine dress and black corduroy button-front dress (both with pockets!) feel fall, minus the warmth and coziness.

Basically, I'm dressing for summer temperatures with a fall sensibility.
Because even if the weather sometimes still feels like summer,
who says I can't be falling for fall?

LAST BREATH OF SUMMER (featuring Tobi)

"Nobody on the road,
Nobody on the beach.
I feel it in the air,
The summer's out of reach."

Nothing emulates my nostalgic feelings on the last breaths of summer more than the above lyrics of Don Henley's "Boys of Summer" (especially in the form of this cover). The streets are emptying, the crowds are disappearing, and the crispness of autumn has begun to occupy the air.

With this, I'm taking every last sip of summer in my warm weather uniform: a tie-up halter crop top, a button-front high waisted denim skirt, and bare feet.

Special thanks to Tobi for sending me this gorgeous crop top
